Upcoming IT Park to Generate 15,000 Jobs in Federal Capital

According to Ministry of Science and Technology representatives, work will begin this month on the Information Technology (IT) Park’s main structure in Islamabad. The federally funded Information Technology (IT) Park would provide at least 15,000 jobs for IT workers, students, and experts.

According to the details, all necessary preparations have been made, and the tendering process is almost finished. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency have previously given their approval to MoITT’s building design (EPA). Syed Amin Ul Haque, the Minister of IT and Telecommunication, laid the park’s foundation stone on Chak Shahzad last year with the goal of realising the Digital Pakistan Vision.

The work on the drain channels, electrical connections, and procurement is complete. Both building a border wall and paying land taxes have already been finished. On the Pakistani side, all work has been finished, while on the Korean side, contract awarding is currently in progress with completion anticipated in the upcoming weeks.

Around 120 start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses will initially be given office space at Islamabad IT Park, along with additional auxiliary amenities including testing labs, classrooms, an industry-academia linkage centre, an auditorium, etc. In order to build software technology parks in Quetta, Gwadar, Faisalabad, Bannu, Swat, Mardan, Sukkur, and Hyderabad, the Ministry of Information Technology is actively collaborating with the Pakistan Software Export Board.
